Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette | Review and Swatches

March 9, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Urban Decay’s Naked line is one of my favorites whether we’re talking about foundations, concealers, eyeshadows, etc. They have proven to be reliable products for me since Day 1 of being a beauty junkie and the palettes especially are total classics. The Naked 3 was actually the first ever high end palette I bought! When I saw the Naked Heat come out last year, I knew I had to have it. I didn’t own many fiery, warm toned shadows until the day I got my hands on Naked Heat.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette | Review and Swatches - One of the BEST palettes for warm browns, burnt oranges and siennas!

I’m not sure if you remember but the first sneak peek of the swatches that came out were a HUGE letdown. Judging from that photo alone, I didn’t have the highest of hopes. Thankfully though, tons of influencers came out with helpful reviews soon after – many of which showed that this palette truly has the amazing formula as the other Naked palettes.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam was on my “Must Have” list as soon as I saw Norvina share pictures of it. It’s a softer version of Modern Renaissance and full of beautiful shades that are perfect for day to day and evening looks.

Morphe Brushes: Jaclyn Hill Palette | First Impressions And Giveaway

June 29, 2017 · 116 Comments

The palette that so many people have been waiting for is finally here! Morphe Brushes and Jaclyn Hill teamed up again to bring us a palette full of 35 shades created by the ever so beautiful and one of my personal favorites, Jaclyn Hill! Jaclyn had full creative control in this project and from the packaging to the shades to the formula, it’s clear she poured her heart and soul into this palette.

The only other Morphe Palettes I own are the two collabs with Jaclyn Hill and Kathleen Lights, both which I adore greatly. From the few days I’ve tested this particular palette, I can for sure say I will be using this frequently. I’ll go into detail below but if you’re here for the giveaway, scroll completely down – the Rafflecopter widget will be at the end of this post.

Storybook Cosmetics Wizardry and Witchcraft Palette | Review

June 9, 2017 · 18 Comments

A full makeup line of products inspired by our favorite stories? Now that is a major dream come true for me! I’m a huge bookworm so when I saw Storybook Cosmetics announce they had big plans with collabs and products, I constantly stalked their Instagram account. They first launched a set of wand shaped makeup brushes which I was lucky to grab in the first release. Then they announced they were working on this palette that I’m about to review for you all! I was so happy to preorder and although shipping commenced a few months after preordered, it was well worth the wait!

Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette First Impressions + Swatches

December 1, 2016 · 1 Comment

Too Faced launched two palettes in time for the holidays recently – their Matte Chocolate Chip Palette and White Chocolate Chip Palette. I picked up the latter when it was available to VIB Rouge members on the Sephora site. I thought I’d do a quick first impressions and show some swatches before they restocked their website since I’ve seen many people show interest in wanting to get their hands on this palette!

This palette is available on Sephora’s website for $26 and comes with 11 cocoa powder infused pastel, creamy nudes, and a pop of black shades. It’s currently sold out but they should be restocking soon.
The first thing I noticed about this palette is that it’s small and sleek.

Like REALLY small. It’s smaller than my mom’s iphone 5.
And the pan sizes are insanely small. The big pan holds 1.5 grams of product while the 10 smaller pans have 0.5 grams each making the total amount of product in this palette 6.5 grams. This is about a third of the amount included in the original Chocolate Bar which has 18.9 grams of product for $49.
Simply comparing the amount of product in each palette doesn’t make the White Chocolate Chip Palette worth it to me. You get less than half the amount of product while the cost is more than half of what the original Chocolate Bar. At first I tried to justify the small pan sizes with the fact that I hardly ever go hit pan on my shadows but my view changed once I swatched these shadows. I used very little product in my swatches and feel like I already used up a ton of product. Hopefully that isn’t the case but seeing the dents I made with one use doesn’t keep my hopes up.
Shades top to bottom: Glaze, Ambriosa, Exotica, Pearl Candy, Raspberry Rose, Indulge, Guilt Free, Cake Batter, Cookie Dough, Sugared Raisin, Black Sugar
I do like the color range of the shadows, however, I feel like there are more nudes than pastels. Before I played around with the shadows, I expected the shimmers to outperform the mattes but it was the opposite. I had to layer up the shimmer shades to build up the swatches. Most of the mattes are good in my opinion, but not impressive. They’re extremely powdery and a few had to be built up.
Final Thoughts
Pros: Cute packaging, the cocoa scent is great, and color range is something I’d use
Cons: Amount of product provided, formula isn’t as great as I hoped it to be, especially the shimmery shades.
If you’re a beauty enthusiast who wants this in your collection, then I’d say why not – but don’t have your hopes up. If you’re someone who’s on the market for a new palette, I’d say skip this and splurge on a Lorac Palette, especially if their holiday ones are still available ($18 only!) or even an Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette.
If you’re willing to try something new, I’d say go with an indie brand such as Touch of Glam Beauty, Devinah Cosmetics, or JD Glow Cosmetics!
What are your thoughts on the White Chocolate Chip Palette? Will you be purchasing it if you have not already?
